music magazine research-research and planning
for my next magazine we have been asked to create one based around music. this is my research.
I believe the simple v sign is an effective house style and also looks modern and stylish. The simplicity of the style helps to create a stylish front cover, leaving the entire front cover for the artist. the use of the V also helps to create a triangle attract the readers eyes to the center of the page (the image)
Looking at all these music magazines and the others I have viewed on Google, I feel the best looking and the ones that stand out against the rest are the magazines that let the the main image take pride of place on the front cover. I feel allowing the main image speak for itself with minimal Puffs and Copy allows the magazine to look like a sort of artwork instead just a magazine cover. I also believe an extremely graphic image can help attract possible customers and help the cover to stand out against the rest.

preliminary task-school magazine
For my next magazine I have been asked to create it for a
school. Many school magazines are made
for the parents, I feel they pupils are left out and this is what I intend to
change. I have asked many students and
they too would like a magazine created just for them. I intend to create a magazine based around
the students, for the students. I intend
to create a new magazine that gives each student a slice of the gossip, I also
intend it to benefit the school and help the students voice their
opinions.
I intend to name the magazine ‘fetch’ based around the film
‘Mean Girls’, I believe the magazine the title will reach the target audience
well (Mean Girls is a well-known film, especially known by the target
audience). I also believe the title sums
up the entire magazine as the film mean girls is based around gossip and
letting your voice be heard. In the film
the word ‘fetch’ is used as a term of happiness and approval, I believe this is
what the magazine should symbolise.
I intend to give the magazine a striking image to try to
symbolise what the magazine is about. I
believe my sketch of the magazine is effective and is a style I wish to
continue, I believe the image implies gossip and revelation.
I intend to revolutionise school magazines, I believe the
school magazine should be for the pupils, not the parents. Helping students to get there feelings across
about the school, I believe the magazine could and will be used for the benefit
of the school, with a little fun added into the mix.
School magazine evaluation
I believe my school magazine has worked
well as it is unlike any other. I believe with the title of ‘Fetch’
it reaches its target audience well and also gets the purpose of the
magazine across simply. Relating to the film 'Mean Girls' it helps
the reader to understand the magazine is essentially about the gossip
and speaking out.
The use of the
bright colours separates itself from the other boring school
magazines and actually gets the students reading it, as its far from
dull. I believe many school magazines are tailored towards the
parents, and the pupils are simply left out. I feel with its vibrant
front cover it includes the students and creates an attractive
magazine. The use of the images on the front cover help again to get
the purpose of the magazine over and also to create an interesting
front cover that people will want to read. I believe using the same
picture but with different editing as a border works as unlike other
school magazines it helps to create a bright an interesting front
cover. The use of the garish colours helps the magazine to stand
out. I hope my version of a school magazine to be quite outrageous
and revolutionary as many school magazines are dull, boring and safe.
I wish my version of a school magazine
to not only give the pupils the gossip but to also help the overall
school. I believe it can not only be used for gossip but to help
revolutionize the school and how it works. I wish for it to be used
to change the school for the better and to help the students to get
their feelings across.
I believe calling the teachers only by
their last name on the front cover really helps to blur the line
between teacher and student (it may also have the pupils and teachers
talking)

Devine front cover, advertisment and contense ideas and evaluation
Devine magazine front cover, advertisment and contense page.
For my first magazine I have chosen to create a fashion magazine based around the world of Avant guard. I feel there was a gap in the market for this type of magazine. With celebrities becoming more outrageous in there dress sense and the likes of Lady gaga spreading this style I felt Avant guard has in the last few years become more mainstream. I feel with its exposure it is slowly becoming part of popular modern culture. I feel there is a gap in the market for a more outrageous and expensive magazine. Aimed at the middle and the upper classes I feel it could be the more outrageous sister to vogue, aimed at the same people it could tempt their fantasies. I believe the minimalist front cover shows how different the magazine is, I believe the type of people that would be willing to by a more expensive magazine wouldn’t care for the text. I also feel with an almost blank cover it shows how luxurious and different the magazine is and will aim itself at the right audience. Using the title of ‘divine’ I believe it symbolises the whole Avant guard feel. With the word divine meaning above god and heavenly, I believe it sums up the whole feeling of the magazine; the repulsive can be stylish and interesting.

I believe keeping the front cover of my ‘Devine’ fashion magazine relatively bare signifies its difference and with a white and bold masthead and a black background I believe it helps it to stand out against the other colourful and busy front covers on the shelf. The slogan ‘grotesque is the new black’ implies this is a high end fashion magazine, the use of the word ‘grotesque’ implies a disturbed but interesting topic linking to the world of avant garde. The striking image brings the only part of colour to front cover, the daring clothing and makeup links to avant garde and also creates an eye catching image. The lack of text on the front cover symbolises its difference and again helps it to stand out against the other fashion magazines.
I believe my advertisement to be successful as it fits in with the style of Dolce and Gabbana adverts. Also the colours are used effectively and give a great contrast against the black background. The one striking image gives the advert an expensive look. The lack of products in the advert symbolises how expensive the brand is and also how revolutionary they are. With just the company name and logo it symbolises how the company view themselves as well known and high expense.
I believe the contents page works well as the colours blend together well but also give a good contrast. The images used show how the magazine is avant garde and how it’s different to the ordinary fashion magazine, the use of just one model is due to the fact that no one else was available also I believe it works in the magazines favour as unlike normal magazines that use around 50 models for one edition the use of just one shocks the day to day audience, also it can symbolise how the model could be a well-known celebrity. I believe using the crosses gives the magazine a feel of controversy, using the symbol for god as a fashion item is sacrilege. I believe the text helps to sum the magazine up, the heavy use of description targets the audience at the rich and highly educated. The montage of pictures creates many focal points to help keep the eye interested.
